Carlos Alcaraz’s win streak reaches 16 as he advances to London semis

Top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz won 91.7 percent of his first-serve points (33 of 36) and ran his winning streak to 16 matches with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over lucky loser Arthur Rinderknech of France on Friday to reach the semifinals of the HSBC Championships at Queen’s Club in London.

Alcaraz had a 24-21 edge in winners while prevailing in just 80 minutes. Alcaraz will next face fellow Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, who upset No. 4 Holger Rune of Denmark 7-6 (5), 6-7 (4), 6-2.

No. 2 Jack Draper of Great Britain was a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 winner over Brandon Nakashima. Draper will face the Czech Republic’s Jiri Lehecka, who recorded a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Brit Jacob Fearnley.

Terra Wortmann Open

One day after defeating World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan drilled 19 aces to advance to the semifinals with a 7-6 (2), 6-3 victory over No. 7 seeded Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic at Halle.

Bublik held a 36-24 edge in winners over Machac. He will next face No. 8 Russian Karen Khachanov, who sailed to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Tomas Martin Etcheverry of Spain.

Second-seeded Alexander Zverev of Germany notched a 6-4, 7-6 (6) win over Italy’s Flavio Cobolli. Zverev will meet No. 3 Daniil Medvedev after the Russian earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Alex Michelsen.
