ABN AMRO Open: Alcaraz Overcomes Tough First-Round Test

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz had to fight hard to overcome Dutch wild card Botic van de Zandschulp, eventually winning 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-1 in the first round of the ABN AMRO Open on Tuesday in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Despite being the world No. 3, Alcaraz found himself pushed to the limit by his determined opponent. The Spaniard finally took control in the third set, where he won 32 of 51 total points to close out the match.

Alcaraz faced seven break points, saving four, while converting four of nine opportunities to break van de Zandschulp’s serve.

Dallas Open: Tommy Paul Stages Comeback, Norrie Upsets Michelsen

In Dallas, Texas, defending Dallas Open champion Tommy Paul showed resilience, battling back to defeat fellow American Jenson Brooksby in three sets, 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-4.

Paul initially trailed 5-3 in the first set but clawed back to force a tiebreaker, only to lose a close battle. However, he responded with strong serving, winning 72.6% of his first serves (45 of 62) and saving six of nine break points to complete the comeback.
